We’ve commissioned Bristol artist Ollie Gillard of Gage Graphics to create a large one-off piece of work, that will be auctioned off later in the year, in support of the national charity Hospitality Action. It will be a fun representation of the journey our food and drink takes from producer to consumer. See him finish it live at the show!
For over 14 years he’s been commissioned to paint large murals. Based in Bristol, he’s worked with a wide range of clients, including the BBC, Dulux, Bath Ales and the RSPCA. He mostly works with local businesses, painting buildings, garden walls, shop fronts, offices, and vehicles. His work often depicts vivid scenes of nature, typically featuring trees and animals, bringing nature back into the urban environment.
The final piece he produces will also feature on a magnum, as well as on a limited run, of Ginjar‘s refreshingly twisted gin, part of the profits from which will go to those in need in the hospitality sector.
Hospitality Action is the charity that offers help, advice, and support whenever times get tough for staff in the hospitality industry, to help get them back on their feet and enjoying the job again, or to prepare them for the next phase of their lives.
The show is full of tasters and samples and the Feature Space is no different. This is where you can enjoy creative matchings between local award-winning Somerset Charcuterie, and Ginjar’s refreshing twisted gin cocktail samples. Come and sample at 11.00am, 12.00pm, 1.00pm, 2.00pm, 3.00pm. 4.00pm or 5.00pm.
We’re also introducing The Happy Mexican, who will delight your taste buds with his authentic Mexican food. And to help you chill out while you’re enjoying all this, there will be a DJ creating some background sounds for you to enjoy.
Bristol is not just renowned for being a foodie city, it’s also a tech hub, The Robotics Innovation Facility (RIFBristol) is the University of the West of England’s specialist industry facing unit within the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, and they will be showcasing one of their robots in the Feature Space. As one the UK’s leading robotic research centres, they will bring their latest ideas to the show, and experts from the laboratory will be on hand to meet with the producers and visitors, to explore future needs and how robotics can help efficiencies in manufacture and the hospitality sector.
Take a break from your visit, have a seat, watch some art, have a drink and a snack, enjoy the tunes, and reflect, before continuing your visit around the rest of the stands.
“Bristol has a thriving independent food sector, with a focus on local, organic and ethical produce, so it’s perfect for us to connect more regional producers to. We want to help Bristol buyers try, taste and test even more of the best produce that the South West has to offer.”
